Essie's After School Boy Blazer Vs. Julep's Ilsa

I'm back with a navy blue comparison for you!  I have been wanting a navy blue polish that doesn't look black on the nails or in low light for ages, but I never really saw one that caught my eye.  Well, I was watching youtube videos one evening and I watched JessFace90's Top 10 Essie polishes in which she mentioned Essie's After School Boy Blazer and I absolutely fell for it! I just had to have it.  So, the next time I was at Marshall's and I saw it, I snatched it up.  After swatching it, I noticed it looked black indoors.  I was bummed, but the formula was phenomenal and it didn't stain. So, how could I not enjoy it? I got over it.  (PS I also remember her mentioning that it would look black in low light, but that left my mind when I spotted it in the store. Hahaha!)  Well, fast forward a month or so, I joined Julep.  My second box included Ilsa. (Julep describes this as an ink blue cream.) The minute I saw it I was annoyed. All I could think of was After School Boy Blazer. So, I have decided to do a comparison.

In the bottle, they look incredibly similar.  I mean I would go back and forth. Essie looks darker but it is really hard to tell just by looking at the bottles.  So, let's look at the swatches.

So can you see the difference?  I sure can!  Ilsa is a navy blue that maintains it's blue regardless of the light.  After School Boy Blazer is a dark, blackened navy that only looks navy in natural high level light. I am SO GLAD I didn't destash Ilsa.  Trust me I almost got rid of her instantaneously, but it turns out she was the blue I was looking for!  She is dark and rich AND she maintains her blue color regardless of what light she is in!   Love her.  I mean I also like Essie, but when it comes to a dark blue that looks blue, Ilsa is the bomb!  I'll be stashing both.  Do you own these?  Which do you prefer?

Natural Nails Tag

Hey guys!

I wanted to participate in a tag post created by LOVE4NAILS called the Long Natural Nails Tag.  I have been watching LOVE4NAILS' videos for 3 years and I just love her videos, her art, and her nails!  So, when I saw that she created and uploaded a tag video about her natural nails and tagged everyone who watched, I just had to participate. Let's get into the questions!

1) What is your nail type?
I have brittle, dry, peeling nails.

2) How old were you when you began growing your nails naturally long?
Hmm... I did not really take a conscious interest in growing my nails until I was a sophomore in college.  However, I have been into art and painting (my nails) since I was 8.  And it all started with my mother and my Aunt.  They used to give me pedicures when I was little.

3) What's the best tip you can give someone for growing long nails naturally?
Personally, I don't have any tips for you guys as I do not have and/or follow a particularly nail care routine.  Typically I just let them grow and enjoy painting until they break.  Once they break I start over again. I would say the few things I try to do consistently are moisturize, file (when necessarily), and use a basecoat and top coat (when painting). On a weekly basis I try to be consistent with buffing my nails and using a cuticle remover.

4) Favorite base and topcoat?

My favorite base coat is Orly's Bonder.  My favorite top coat varies. Generally, I like quick-dry top coats because I just don't have patience. At the moment, I am loving Orly's Sec N' Dry.

5) What's the worst accident you've ever had breaking a nail?
While at work I went to grab and pull a stretcher out of a hearse and I hit the metal bar with my nails. My index fingernail snapped right into the nail bed.  It was painful and bloody.

6) How do others react when they find out your long nails are natural?
Anywhere from disbelief to envy. I don't keep my nails incredibly long (due to my job), but I keep them long enough (a month's growth typically) that people question their naturalness.

7) What is it that you like about growing your nails naturally long?
I think it's fun and I love the nail community.  I like the sense of community in the nail world. I also love art and I find the art that people do to be inspirational and I like that feeling. I love to be inspired.

8) Now that you know the secret to growing your nails naturally long, would you use fake nails?

I've never had fake nails. I love the way they look, but I do really love my natural nails. So, I would never get them done for myself, but I'd love to learn how to do them for others in a more professional capacity.

9) What's one thing you can't do with long natural nails?
I have a hard time, if my nails are too long, performing some of the duties of my job without safety concerns. I find that when I grow my nails longer than a months growth, they tend to tear or rip through gloves that I wear while working. Obviously, I don't want my hands exposed to any body fluids or harsh chemicals and thus I find it difficult in that respect to do my job in the safest manner possible with longer nails.

10) Do any of your nails grow out crooked?
Yes, of course!  I think most people's nails grow somewhat crooked.

11) What a tip you would give other girls who also have natural long nails?
Moisturize!

12) What are some benefits from having long natural nails?

People will just want to talk to you about your hands.  It's nice to have a genuinely pleasant conversation with a stranger about something you both admire to some degree, especially when it's about art.

13) How many months do you grow out your nails till you have them to the length you like?

As I mentioned before, I like about a month's worth of growth.

14) What does you ( spouse, partner, friends, parents etc...) think of your long natural nails?
My friends and family tell me they have nail envy because of me. Haha! I have some friends (male and female) who ask me to give them manicures whenever they have the chance.  I have others (especially my mom, grandma, and Aunt) that ask if they can borrow my nail polish because they love my color selection. I have other friends who ask simply to just to come over and do a manicure with me. As for my partner, he loves my hands he says.  He always asks me (usually every other day when we're not in close proximity) if I have changed my nail color and if I say yes, he asks me to send him a picture. He's cute. Haha!

*** I wanted to add a 15th question.***

15) What do your natural nails look like right now? (No polish!)
Here are two pictures as of Thursday March 5, 2015: one of my right and the other of my left.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this tag! For those of your who read this, I tag you.  I would love to read your answers.  If you do decide to do this, please let me know in the comments below or tell me via social media! Or just email me a link or something! :)

A Small Haul

Hey guys!

The title is a misnomer. This actually is a fairly large haul (for me). I mean originally I thought I'd only have a few but I kept finding so many deals on polishes that had been on my wishlist forever. Additionally, I was inspired and influenced to also purchase some because I just couldn't not try out a few youtube nail lovers' favorites.  Anyway, these are the polishes I bought from February 8th through the beginning of March. Let's get to the haul!

First off I have one word, a proper noun: Jessika.  Jessika is a problem. I love her. She did a few videos on Funky Fingers and hauls AND she gave me two Funky Fingers polishes in our Valentine's Day exchange. So you bet you bottom dollar I had to stop in at FiveBelow. I ended up stopping in a FiveBelow while at work and I just couldn't resist picking up some more neons and a holographic!
L-R: Midge, BPM, Drop The Bass
While googling swatches, I discovered that Midge was a texture AND that it supposedly was a dupe for Zoya's Payton (comparison coming).  I was a little disappointed by both discoveries, but I'll talk more about that in the comparison post that is coming.   Before I move on I want to share that Drop The Bass is a dupe for CC's Foxy Mama, BPM for CC's Right On, and Midge... I don't think it has a CC counterpart.  If you do know a CC counterpart for Midge, please tell me!

What else... ah, yes, I bought two Pahlish polishes off Llarowe: Dark Chocolate Cherries from the Winter 2014-2015 Collection and the only other polish I needed to complete the Royal Reverie Collection for fall 2014, La Derniere Reine.

I then purchased four Color Club polishes from 8ty8 Beauty. My first 8ty8 Beauty order ever!  I picked up Port-folio, The Uptown (new formula), Ho-Ho-Holly, and Williamsburg.  I think my order without shipping came to $13.  I honestly don't know why I ordered a bottle of The Uptown with the new formula.  I did swatch it and I think it's pretty but I don't love it.  There are a few polishes I'm thinking to destash and that is probably gonna be one...

Then I went to storeenvy in search of two things: a bottle of The Uptown with the old formula (because I am a collector and need to have it) and ILNP's chunky glitter called Old Gregg, which was discontinued. I found both, but only in mini bottles. The seller of The Uptown said it was the old formula and that the Color Club mini bottles are 7ml which isn't too bad.  So, I bought that. I paid roughly $7 total ($4 for the bottle and $3 for shipping) for it and $6.75 ($4 for the bottle and $2.75 shipping) for the ILNP glitter, which is a 3ml bottle. After those purchases, I made the mistake of searching for an OPI polish I had been wanting: DS Mystery.  I found it.  $4. And then I searched for the mustard yellow that MissHollyBerries raved about fromJulep: Alma. $3.50!  Additionally, I picked up one of my biggest lemmings: Butter London Wallis!

And THEN I stopped in at Target to take advantage of their clearance sales. I picked up Sonia Kashuk's Dime A Dozen and three Essie polishes: On A Silver Platter, Mojito Madness, and Mint Candy Apple (both the green and blue versions).

A couple days later I was outside becoming increasingly impatient and cold while waiting for the bus that I decided to walk to Marshall's. I ended up buying my first two Sephora Formula X polishes: Legend and Torque!  I would NEVER have picked up Torque but it was paired with Legend. So... yeah. I also got three Butter London polishes for $15. THREE FOR FIFTEEN!  That is three for the price of one. I picked up Sozzled, Disco Biscuit, and Posh Bird.

A few days after that, I stopped by CVS to kill time before I met a friend for dinner and discovered that Pop Razzi was $0.99!! So, I picked up the only two I had been eyeing: Never Too Rich and Star Shine. I also found Covergirl Diva After Dark and Milani Fierce Foil in Venice.  After CVS, I stopped in Rite Aid and spotted the L'oreal Hot Florals collection!  I practiced restraint and only picked one polish: Spring Showers.

Now this purchase I blame generally on Stacey from PolishedWays on youtube. She mentioned that she got a hard to find OPI from the Shrek Collection from a store called LA Lacquer and you know I just had to check it out.  Of course I bought eight things: 2 OPIs (OPI & Apple Pie, Out Of This World), 2 Essies (Wicked, Hor D'oeuvres), and 4 Lechat polishes (Hologram Diamond, Seriously Golden, Neontopia, Our Secret Eden). And now lemme break down WHY I bought these eight polishes...

The two OPI polishes (Out Of This World and OPI & Apple Pie) I wanted since I saw them swatched on Scrangie's blog. She did a comparison of Chopsticking To My Story with three other OPIs and I want them all! I'm still looking for Ginger Bells and Chopsticking To My Story. I wish she'd come back! :(

PS The mini Ciaté in Play Date was included because Lyn (store owner) was unable to ship this item with the rest of the shipment.

The two Essies... ugh. So, Wicked debuted in 1993 at some point I think and I remember first noticing it on my friend Robyn. She would get manicures occasionally and she would request it. She told me it was called Wicked and she made me go with her so that she could find and buy it back in 2013.  Ever since then I just couldn't get it out of my mind so I bought it. As for Hor D'oeuvres, it was an impulse buy inspired by JessFace90. She mentioned it in her favorite Essie polishes video. Anyway, I loved Maybelline's Gilded Rose and this looked like a silver-ish equivalent. Had to have it.

OK now Lechat. I owned three Lechat polishes ages ago, but I dumped all but one which was an ugly pretty color. I can't think of the name but that's not important right now. Anyway, two of these I bought because Holly of MissHollyBerries hauled them at IMATS last year and said they were gorgeous: Hologram Diamond and Seriously Golden. The last two (Our Secret Eden and Neontopia) were impulse buys because they were cheap AND I thought they were pretty!

Aaaaannnnnnddd Ebay happened the same day. I bought 2 Covergirl polishes (Midnight Magic, Timeless Rubies). I wanted them since I saw them on blogs way after they had been released. And of course they were limited editions so I couldn't buy them in stores.  I blame BeautyRedeefined. The same goes for the Maybelline (Downtown Brown). I saw it on Scrangie's blog and needed it.

I then found the entire L'oreal L.E. spring collection from 2013 (I think...?  It was the pastels collection) on eBay for $20!  I had been eying those on eBay for 6 months but they price was $49, which I refused to pay.  So, when it became $20 it was a no duh type of situation. I had to buy it!

I also purchased three of the mini bottles of Lay Down That Bass off ebay. Why?  Because I broke my bottle the Thursday before Friday the 13th. :(  Oh and I purchased three bottles because the prices for a single mini were ridiculous. Purchasing three (for $9.50) was actually cheaper than purchasing one! And no, I am not including a picture because it would be boring lol.

After that I wandered over to Pretty Serious Cosmetics because I was on Scrangie's blog again (I look at her swatches all the time especially if I want a polish) and I just loved two pinks: Claris and CGA. AND then MissHollyBerries showed the Swatch And Learn collaboration polish in her IMATS haul and I had to have it.

And then I found two polishes I have been hunting but not finding: OPI's Vodka And Caviar and Barielle 's Buddha-ful. Could NOT pass them up. One is due to MissHollyBerries and her favorite reds video while the other is due to this Lucysstash blog post. Additionally, I was watching---well, re-watching-- an old haul video of MissHollyBerries in which she mentioned an online stockist called Beyond Polish. She said they had name brands for decent prizes and of course I went to the site and bought two OPIs for $9.90: Lincoln Park After Midnight and Do You Have This Color In Stock-holm?.

Shortly after this, I saw that Groupon was having a sale on China Glaze.  You could get half of the Avant Garden Collection from Spring 2013 for $18! Of course I had to purchase it.  There are two polishes I am not so sure about and might end up giving away...

Then I decided I had to order some more KBShimmer. I blame youtubers.

And last but not least I finally gave in and picked up three  Madam Glam polishes to try.  They were having a 40% off sale.  I've never tried the brand, but MissHollyBerries Madam Glam swatch videos convinced me plus the new bottle is so much cuter than the old bottle style. However,  I was sad to discover I couldn't get my hands on the neon orange.

Before I end, I want to say that I placed a pre-order with ILNP for Peri Me, Fame, and Happily Ever After. I also ordered the mini set of the OPI Sheer tints from eBay, which I blame on JessFace90's tutorial.  Ugh.  And lastly (i.e. on Tuesday 3/10/15), I placed a order at Walgreens.com because they were offering 25% beauty and free shipping for orders of $25 or more.  I picked up two Pop Beauty polishes in Loud Lime and Mint Magic as well as Essie No More Film and a Revlon called Impress all for $26. They aren't going to arrive in time to be featured in this post so I don't have pictures.  I'll post them on instagram when they arrive.  :)  Aaaand now I have to go on a serious no buy.  My budget and life demands it.  I seriously have way too much nail polish.  Wish me luck fo' real this time.  If Jessika can do it, I can do it!!  (Right...?!)  :)

Well, that wraps up my haul! I hope you enjoyed this post.  I'll see you back here with a swatch and possible another comparison or two. :)

P.S. I just want to say that pretty much every single polish I purchased with the exception of two, have been on my wish list for ages.  So, that's not too bad right?  Ha ha. Don't answer that.

Zoya's Payton Vs. Zoya's Blaze Vs. Funky Fingers Midge

Today I have another comparison post.  In this post I will be comparing Zoya's Payton and Blaze with Funky Fingers Midge. I alluded to this post in my most recent haul post actually.  These three polishes are jelly polishes containing scattered holographic particles. All dry to a gloss finish except Midge. Midge is a texture finish, which hides the beauty of the holographic if you ask me.  First let's look at a bottle shot comparison.

From the bottle shot, it does appear that Midge and Payton are pretty much identical with the only exception being that Midge contains less, but larger holographic particles. Upon closer inspection, however, you can see (from photos below) they are not dupes at all! Alas one disappointment defeated!  Have a look.

The differences are obvious, no?  Payton is more opaque, has denser and smaller holographic particles AND the base is purple. Midge, on the other hand, has a burgundy base, dries to a texture, is more sheer, and has larger more sparse holographic particles. And lastly Blaze is just like Payton but in red form. I cannot tell you how elated I was to discover the dupe alerts were false. And remember how I mentioned I was disappointed with Midge being a texture? Well, it takes only one thick coat of top coat to make Midge look flawlessly glossy! This was an all around win for me.  I will not be destashing anything this round! :)  What do you guys think?  Do you think Midge looks worth a purchase?  How do you feel about scattered holographic texture polishes?

Thanks for reading! :)

P.S. I don't believe there is a Color Club counterpart for Midge.  This might be a unique release in the Funky Fingers line. If you know differently, please let me know!

My Favorite Glitter Polishes

$

So, let's talk glitter.  I am sure you've read this sentence somewhere on my blog more than once: "I am not a glitter fan." Now don't get me wrong I love bling-tastic nails and bling-tastic glitter polishes. Therefore, let me be specific.  I am not a huge fan of chunky glitters or glitter toppers really. Do I own those type of glitters?  Yes.  Do I wear them?  Yes, occasionally.  Do I buy them often? No. They have to be exceptionally unique and attractive looking to entice me into purchasing. And, generally, I use them for placement or a glitter accent. Then what kind of glitter polishes do I actually like? I'll show you in this post!   Below you will find all the glitters I love, which I have split into categories. Well tried to split into categories...

First up are the full coverage very finely milled microglitter bases with larger hexogonal pieces interspersed throughout.  These are my absolute favorite glitters.  I like how reflective they are and how these look in full manicures.
Essie On A Silver Platter, Essie Hor D'Oeuvres, Maybelline Gilded Rose, OPI Wonderous Star
My second favorite type of glitter are the densely packed microglitters in clear bases (not finely milled microglitter like the first category) with hexogonal pieces interspersed throughout.  And there are so many below that I am going to list them here from left to right as opposed to doing that in a caption below the photo. So, left to right we have China Glaze Loco-Motive, LeChat Hologram Diamond, Wet N Wild Rockin' Rubies, Diamond In The Rough, It's All In The Cut, Back Alley Deals, Cost Is No Issue, and Believe Me It's Real.  Again this is another type of glitter that I love to wear as a full manicure.  Love these ones!

The glitters in this third grouping are the ones that I will only wear as accents. They are essentially the full coverage microglitters, which you will see in the photo below. These are dense microglitters in clear bases. There are also two very dense string glitters included here from the Wet N Wild Ice Baby Collection because I had no other place to put them.
24 Carats, Give Me A Price Quote, Julep Sharna, Julep Andrea, piCture pOlish Heavy Metal, Sally Hansen Rockstar Pink
Next up are the glitters in colored jelly bases. These glitters range from chunky to finely milled with their only uniting factor being a tinted jelly base.  I don't wear these ones often and when I do, I usually only do accents and/or layerings.  However, there are three of these that I will wear as full manicures (those being Milani, Funky Fingers, and piCture pOlish).
Milani Ruby Jewels, OPI Orange You Fantastic, Sinful Nail Junkie, Funky Fingers Tinsel Town, piCture pOlish Jealousy
This fifth category is a new category of glitter that I have fallen in love with, which is why I only have two that fit into this category. These are the large glitters that are full coverage, densely packed, and in a clear base.  These two happen to be holographic and oh my god are they GORGEOUS. I would do anything with these. I'd do an accent just as quickly as wearing them in a full on manicure. I love these so much!
Le Chat - Seriously Golden, Funky Fingers Sand & Stilettos
And last but not least the full coverage flakie glitters!  I love, love, love this type.  I guess I should have placed this further up in my post since I was kind of going by absolute favorite types of glitters to wear.  These are full coverage flakies in clear bases and they are so reflective and so beautiful.  These will never get old to me!  Again I would wear these in full manicures or just as an accent.
Sally Hansen Gilded Lily and Fun Lacquer in Queen, Pay Day, and King
And that's it!  I know there are a lot of polishes in this post, but these are not the only glitter polishes I own, I swear!  I do have plenty of other glitters--all chunky-- but they aren't my favorites, which is why they aren't in this post. Ha ha!  I hope you enjoyed this and please tell me what your favorite glitters are!  I'd love to know.  And I'd love suggestions as usual. ;)

Color Club's Ho-Ho-Holly Vs. Zoya's Logan

Hi guys!

Today I have another comparison for you today: CC's Ho-Ho-Holly versus Zoya's Logan.  These are both yellow-toned, forest green colors with dense yellow-gold particles and blue-green duochrome properties.  They are absolutely gorgeous.  We'll start with the typical bottle shot and work our way down.

Below are five photos of the two polishes on the nail wheel.  You are looking at 3 coats and no top coat.

Can you see the difference?  Ho-Ho-Holly is actual a light forest green foil with gold shimmer whereas Logan is a darker forest green crelly base packed with foil and shimmer.  Totally different finishes I would argue, but they are similar in color. CC is more sheer but becomes opaque with three coats whereas Zoya is opaque in two and less sheer.  Do you need both? No. Pick your favorite!  Or buy both if you are a green lover. :)

OPI DS Mystery VS Julep Shailene VS OPI First Class Desires VS Zoya Sansa!

Today I have a somewhat bigger comparison post for you.  I ordered OPI's DS Mystery rather recently from Storenvy and when it arrived I thought it looked familiar, like something I had seen before in my collection. So, I decided to go through and look.  Below is what I came up with!
L-R: Julep Shailene, OPI DS Mystery, OPI First Class Desires, Zoya Sansa
Crazy, right?  Four freaking colors that look this similar!  What can I say?  When I love something I tend to gravitate towards purchasing it without thinking. So, let's see if I have four dupes!

The first three pictures you will see below are photographs of one coat of each polish. And they are in the order of the bottles they are pictured beneath (L-R: Shailene, First Class Desires, Sansa, and Mystery).

L-R: Shailene, First Class Desires, Sansa, DS Mystery
L-R: Shailene, First Class Desires, Sansa, DS Mystery
So, as you can see from the first coat they are different with Shailene and DS Mystery being the stand out polishes. DS Mystery has large pieces that seem like a mixture of flecks and shards.  It's beautiful and its base matches Shailene the best. Shailene just has lots of gold shimmer and a deep burgundy, plum-y base. It's almost a one coater.  On the other hand, First Class Desires and Sansa are very close. First Class Desires is a brighter lighter more burgundy (red) leaning purple base than Sansa on the first coat.  Both of them have the same amount of gold and purple shimmer interspersed throughout.

The last three photos you see below are three coats on the nail wheel. Let's see how different they look now!
L-R: Shailene, First Class Desires, Sansa, DS Mystery
L-R: Shailene, First Class Desires, Sansa, DS Mystery
L-R: Shailene, First Class Desires, Sansa, DS Mystery
These last three pictures show that Shailene and DS Mystery definitely don't have any dupes (and aren't dupes of each other of the other two), but that First Class Desires and Sansa are super close. Super, super close.  You can see from the pictures that, again, First Class Desires is a bit more red leaning (burgundy) while Sansa has more blue and thus is cooler toned.  Again this difference is a rather small difference. Will I destash any?  Nope!  I love this color and I am a hoarder. ;)

So, what do you think?  Which one is your favorite? Do you own all or any of these?

This Month In Pedicures: March 2015

Hey guys! I'm sorry I got so behind with posting toward the end of March.  I went on a no-buy and broke my nails. I guess all that led to me feeling less than inspired when it came to nails.  I mean I also ran out of my scheduled posts, which I was relying on without being smart and writing more as my scheduled posts dwindled in number. Haha!  Anyway, let's get to this content shall we?

In March, I only ended up doing one pedicure. Why?  Well, first, the pedicure only chipped at the very end of March (as in March 26th). And second, I decided that I just needed to cut my toe nails and give them a breather.  So, as of now (April 8th) they are short and unpainted.  Yes, unpainted!  Blasphemous, I know!

Anyway, the one pedicure I did in March was Color Club's Ho Ho Holly. This is a beautiful green foil polish with bits of gold interspersed throughout. It was a bit thin and required three medium coats, but it was not too hard to control, which is always a plus. I felt it was very appropriate for St. Patrick's day!  Take a look!

So, what do you think?  If you're thinking, "Hmm that reminds me of Zoya's Logan," you should check out my comparison post.  They are similar but definitely different.  I think you can justify both especially if you love green!  I hope you enjoyed and again I apologize for my absence!  Hope you're having a lovely day!

Monthly Untrieds: March 2015 Edition

Hey guys!  I am back with a recap of my monthly untrieds, but for March this time! Before I begin, I want to reiterate what I will be doing with this series. I will do a recap of the photos from instagram, give the basic nail polish information, and provide a star rating. The rating is 1 to 5: 1 being least favorite, 5 being top favorite. Before I start, I want to remind you that I do post all these pictures on instagram as I wear them; you are not seeing new photos and I won't necessarily be writing swatch posts about these unless the pictures and paint job were particular well done. I do apologize.  With all that said, I hope you enjoy this post!

(P.S. these are all camera phone photos and vary drastically with light conditions.)

#1 Julep - Nancy
I love, love, love metallic nails.  And for some reason Julep has so many metallics that I just feel like I have to own and Julep's Nancy was no exception.  I got Nancy using a promo coupon I received in one of my Maven boxes so I am not sure when this particular polish was released, but you can find it on the online Julep site. What is the verdict? I love this sage metallic.  It's difficult to tell whether it's silver or green in the bottle and in-person despite the fact that my photos makes it appear to be a teal-ish green. In real life, like I mentioned, it straddles the line between silver and green. This is a beautiful, easy to control, interesting sage metallic color. My love of this color makes me give it a 5.

#2 Sonia Kashuk - Dime A Dozen
I picked this baby up at Target for $1.57. It reminded me of Essie's Mochacino, except cheaper and with more dimension, which is why I picked it up, but I wasn't head over heels for it.  At first. Guys... this polish is... wait for it... A ONE COATER.  This is a one FREAKING COATER.  I am in love with this.  This is a dark taupe brown with blue green and silver shimmer. It's gorgeous AND easy to control.  What more could you want from a polish other than, let's say, a bolder color?  Whatever!  If you guys can still find this in target, pick it up!  It's a definite 5 for me!
#3 Zoya - Severine
Yes.  This is one of the mini polishes from the the Zoya Mystery Trio that they were giving away in a promotional deal, claiming these were new and never released to the public.  Well, these were basically left overs from the NYFW 2014 and I'm guessing because these colors just didn't sell, their only option was to give them away for free. And do you blame people for not buying these?? I mean look at Severine.  Severine is a frosty, muted, platinum gold color.  While it is interesting, it's something I would NEVER pay for.  Let's talk about the positives.  This polish goes on so smooth and the brush strokes aren't too bad actually. It's a good color to use as the botton color in a Ruffian manicure. Other than that, that's all I have.  Now if you follow me on instagram, you know I said these grew on me and they did but I would still have never paid for this trio had I known what colors I was getting.  With all that being said, I give this a 3.

#4 China Glaze - Secret Peri-Wink-Le
This was a birthday gift from the lovely Jessika (ThePolishedQueen).  She's so awesome!  If you haven't checkout her channel on youtube, you should!  :)  This polish had been on my wishlist for AGES and when I saw that she bought it for me as a gift, I was elated.  This is opaque in three smooth, easy coats and this didn't chip until day 4 on me.  Ugh I am in love.  I just couldn't stop looking at my nails. And in a good way!  I give this polish a 5.

#5 Sinful Colors - Let Me Go
Next up is a sheer, frosty duochrome from Sinful Colors called Let Me Go.  I've had this color for a few years and just never wore it. Sounds awful right?  Well, I thought so too which is why I never wore it.  I just wasn't sure how to make it work.  Well, I was watching a video--I can't remember which one-- on MissHollyBerries youtube channel and she said this was one of her favorite polishes ever from Sinful Colors and that the key to these kinds of colors was to layer them over a polish with a similar base as the predominant color in the duochrome.  So, I layered this over China Glaze's Peri-wink-le and look at it!  It is bomb! What you see below is two easy coats of Let Me Go over China Glaze.  This is very frosty so you have to be careful with brush strokes.  It also takes forever to dry but it's gorgeous!  I give it a 4.

#6 Revlon - Autumn Spice
So, I just started getting into the Parfumerie line by Revlon and honestly there are only a few that interest me both by scent and by finish. As you may have deduced Autumn Spice is one of them; it's a rusty brown to pink duochrome shimmer.  I'm not sure what this smell actually is but it's a bit sweet and at times I don't like it but, again, it is a gorgeous color.  Unfortunately, I found this polish very hard to control. It was very difficult to get a nice smooth line near the cuticle. It also dries very quickly and becomes clumpy as you are trying to spread it.  I have to give this a 2.

#7 Julie G - 9 To 5
Sooo I definitely wore this bright baby in the dead of winter and I got so many positive compliments!  This was my second Julie G polish ever and the third Julie G polish I have actually worn. I'd say this is a pastel neon orange and it's similar to Urban Outfitter's Westside, which is lighter.  (Please note that my photos are not color accurate.) Let's talk formula. The formula on this is horrible: it's a little thick, it's streaky, and it doesn't self level whatsoever.  BUT MAN the color is so gorgeous though. I have to give this a 4.

#8 Color Club - Ho Ho Holly
I love this color. Before I purchased this, I had received Zoya's Logan and, while I love it, it just wasn't exactly what I wanted in terms of a green foil.  I mean Logan isn't actually a foil in my opinion. Anyway, let's get back to the topic. When I got my hands on Ho Ho Holly, I knew I had found the green/gold foil I had been looking for.  This was sheer but builds to opacity with three thin, easy coats and it doesn't stain! Gorgeous.  I give it a 5.

#9 O.P.I. - Wonderous Star
I swear to you that that is how it is spelled on the bottom of my bottle.  I know how to spell "wondrous." Anyway, I heard that a lot of people were disappointed by this polish and I don't understand why.  I actually loved this on my nails.  It's shiny, smooth, and just mesmerizing. It's so different. The formulation on this glitter is actually the only formulation I would wear as a full manicure.  Below you see three easy coats AND I don't think any of my pictures do this any justice.  I think everyone should give this polish a shot.  Love. I give it a 5.

#10 China Glaze - Harvest Moon
Last but not least a China Glaze I've had since I started collecting China Glaze.  I have had this for years and I am only just not getting around to wearing it.  This is Harvest Moon.  It's a gorgeous super shiny rusty, copper color.  This was very thin but built up well in three coats.  It did take a little while to dry but the end result made it worth the wait. I don't think these colors look the best on my so I have to give it a 3.

Well, that's my untried polishes for March.  I hope you enjoyed this!  Keep your eyes open next month for my April edition! :)

Confessions Of A Nail Polish Addict Tag!

Hey guys!

I am so sorry I have been M.I.A. lately.  I have, however, been occasionally posting to Instagram and Twitter, if you've noticed. Eh... I mean I have no excuses other than life got away from me, but I think I'm going to try to get back with it. And what better way to do it than with a tag post!!

Today I will be doing the "Confessions Of A Nail Polish Addict"tag that the lovely Jessika (from Jessika ThePolishedQueen on youtube) tagged me in a while ago way back in April. Love you Jessika! :) So let's get to it, shall we?

Questions:
1. What color are you wearing right now?
I am wearing L'oreal's Lacey Lilac from Versailles Romance Collection from Spring 2013.

2. What nail product can't you live without?
Yikes. Tough one.  I think it would have to be cuticle oil/lotion.

3.What is your favorite nail brand?
Hmm... I love Essie, but I also really love L'oreal.  I think I'll have to go with L'oreal.

4. What shape nail do you wear?
I like the square-oval shape best.  I mean I love, love, LOVE square nails, but I can't wear them without breaking them the next day hence how they become square-oval.

5. What's your go to Red, Pink & Neutral Nail Polish?

My go to red is Essie Hip Anema.  My go to pink is OPI Elephantastic Pink. And my go to neutral is Essie Sand Tropez.

6. Short or Long Nails?
I love long nails.

7. What Nail Polish colors are on your nail wishlist?
This is a loaded question, dammit!  LOTS!  I think the ones I have been lusting after the most though would have to be: OPI's Glacier Bay Blues, At Your Quebec And Call, and Parlez-vous OPI?.

8. When do you paint your nails, morning, afternoon or evening?

I generally do mine in the morning or evening.

9. What's your top nail tip you swear by?

Base coat!  A good base coat!

10. What nail polish do you regret buying?

Mostly pink polishes.  I have since gotten rid of them though so I can't tell you the names.

11. Neon or Pastel?
Neon pastels!!

12. What's your favorite color right now, you wear all the time?

Right now I am definitely on a red kick even though I generally don't wear reds.  I think it's because of my significant other; he loves red. Yeah.  It's his fault.

So, those are my answers and I'm sticking to them!!  I hope you enjoyed this tag and please, if you decide to do the tag, let me know your answers in the comments or with a link! I will see you back here Wednesday! :)

UPDATE: Nail Care Routine

Hey guys!

I know I have really dropped the ball on this blog.  I have, however, remained active on Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram, but I don't know if that helps any. Haha!  Anyway, I just want to apologize for my absence. Life just keeps getting in the way and not in a bad way-- I've been having a great time actually!  I guess that is beside the point though. I suppose I hope you accept my apologies and that you don't hold it (my absence) against me.

With all that said, I want to write a post about my updated nail care routine, because I have been having serious success with it.  But let's start at the beginning!  A few months ago, as evidenced on my Instagram, I was having trouble with my nails.  They were peeling and breaking badly and I just couldn't get them to cooperate.  I go through phases like this regularly, phases in which my nails will look gorgeous polished for a week or two, but then they will break and misbehave horribly for almost a month. Well, while I was experiencing the bad phase, I watched a video by Polished Ways on youtube in which she mentioned she was going to try some treatments because she was also having problems. I went to the store on a mission, looked at the treatments she was going to use, and just couldn't bring myself to shell out the money. Bummed, I returned home and started asking some women on Instagram whose nails I envy what they did to help keep their nails looking nice.  Several women, and most specifically Monzell18, told me routinely taking Biotin and moisturizing really helped. Therefore, I decided to give it a shot.

...Ladies, it's been doing wonders for me AND it's only been one month!  Now, I am not saying treatments don't work or that your nails will never break if you do this, I am just saying I have noticed a positive difference in the way my nails are behaving.  I still do experience a slight tiny peel here and there but it is drastically reduced. And I mean drastically!  So, here is what I do: I take two Biotin vitamins every morning and I make sure to moisturize my cuticles with cuticle specific products (oils, creams, salve, etc-- whatever you prefer. I prefer oil.) two to three times a day as well as moisturize my hands with lotion two to three times. I buff my nails once a week as well as remove excess cuticle and skin growth on the nail beds once a week.  And lastly, before polish application, I liberally apply a quick dry base coat (right now it's Revlon's quick-dry base coat). That's my routine.

I have pictures of my natural nails and a french manicure, which I haven't done in a while because my nails were just too gross. These were all taken yesterday.

First, pictures of my nails post nail polish removal.  This shows just a base coat and cuticle oil.

Next, is a picture of my nails with just a base coat and Confetti's White Knights on the tips.

Below you will see my nails with Confetti's White Knights on the tips and Essie's Vanity Fairest on the nail beds.  The top coat is INM Out The Door quick-dry top coat.

Lastly, I added INM Out The Door Hologram Top Coat in silver.  I love this!

What do you think?  Are you inspired to do a subtle, natural looking french now??

I hope you found this helpful.  If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!  Thanks for stopping by and I hope to get back to some regular production of content soon. :)

Monthly Untrieds: April 2015 Edition

Hey guys!  I am back with a BELATED recap of my monthly untrieds, but for April this time! Before I begin, I want to reiterate what I will be doing with this series. I will do a recap of the photos from instagram, give the basic nail polish information, and provide a star rating. The rating is 1 to 5: 1 being least favorite, 5 being top favorite. Are we all refreshed now??  Good. Moving on!

One more thing before I get into this post, I want to remind you that I do post all these pictures on instagram as I wear them; you are not seeing new photos and I won't necessarily be writing swatch posts about these unless the pictures and paint job were particular well done. I do apologize.  With all that said, I hope you enjoy this post!

(P.S. these are all camera phone photos and vary drastically with light conditions.)

#1 Julep - Faye
Julep describes this Faye as a liquid bronze shimmer.  Do you see this as bronze? I don't see this and think bronze; I see this and think murky golden yellow-brown.  This is such a funky color that I don't have words to actually describe it. I guess this would qualify as an ugly-pretty color.  Despite being such a funky color, I love this! However, it did bring out some of the red in my pale skin.  I'm thinking to give this another shot over the summer when I have a darker complexion. As far as application, this polish applied easily and was opaque in two coats. I did notice that it took a substantial time to dry though, which was a bummer.  Unfortunately, I only wore this polish for a day before changing to a new color and therefore cannot comment on wear time.  I changed my polish because I ruined my manicure at work and not because I got sick of the color. ;) I have to give this a 4 for its uniqueness!

#2 Zoya - Charlott
After ruining Faye at work, I decided to paint my nails with Charlott! First, I notice that people have been calling this Charlott with an "e" at the end.  The only reason I haven't added an "e" is because my bottle has it spelled without the "e."  I figured I would just get that minute difference out of the way now before I get into the polish itself. Anyway, if I remember correctly, Charlott is described by Zoya as a khaki creme polish, but I am more apt to agree with Kellie from KellieGonzo.com in that this looks more like a camel-toned nude crème with a slight green undertone (all her words by the way). This is a very interesting neutral color and I really quite like how different it is. However, I would never have paid for this myself.  As for application, this polish applied so easily and was opaque in two coats thin, creamy coats. And, if I may say so myself, it looks pretty good on my pale skin.  I am curious how it would look now that I have a tan. Hm. I give this a 4 for uniqueness!

#3 Orly - Snowcone
THIS IS BOMB.  I have been wanting this polish ever since it was released in 2010 I believe.  I finally found this little beauty at Marshall's on clearance for $1.  I got home and put this on right away. I totally couldn't help myself. I mean look at the color!! Speaking of color, I would describe this as a periwinkle yet powder blue creme. Hm. Yeah. As for application, this applied so smooth and easy.  It was so damn pigmented that I was able to get full coverage in one medium coat! This polish was self-leveling and didn't stain me at all. What more could you ask for from a color like this? I love this polish so much. You don't understand.  Therefore I have to give this one an obviously high rating.  I have to give it a 5!

#4 Julep - Kelsey
Julep describes this as a powder peach créme and I have to completely agree. This a beautiful twist on a natural, clean neutral. I absolutely love colors like these. And clearly this color compliments my skin tone. I mean just look how gorgeous it looks! ;) If I had to pick a specific neutral to wear from this day onward, I'd pick something like Kelsey.  Unfortunately, I found the application on this one to be less than easy. This polish is thick and hard to work with; it runs and doesn't self-level very well.  What you see in the picture is two coats and seché vite as the top coat.  Despite loving this color, I have to give this one a 3 due to the difficulty with which it applied. What a bummer!

#5 Formula X - Torque

This is my first Formula X polish! And...OK... so this is another polish I would have never purchased if I had a choice.  This came in a duo pack with a polish I actually wanted. Guys I don't know how to describe this color.  If I had to take a stab at it, I would describe it as an antiqued, muted brass-gold color with a fair amount of silver in it. Such a strange, but captivating color. This was released in a line called "The Metallics" by Formula X.  This is the type of polish that behaves like a chrome; it dries fast and shows every little imperfection in the nail bed. That aside, I thought it applied easily in that I found it easy to control.  What you see in the picture is three coats and Seché Vite top coat. Unfortunately, the wear time on this sucked.  I only wore it one day before I had two major--and I mean major-- chips in my thumb and index fingers on both hands! Despite the crappy wear time, I give this polish a 4! Again, I am really into unique colors this series.

#6 Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure - Parrot

I have had this polish sitting in my collection for several years. And I mean several years (i.e. since 2012)!  I first saw this on Jen's blog, the polishaholic, and after seeing it I decided I had to have it. Well, I found it on clearance for $1.68 and I've had it ever since. I would have to describe this color as a light, bright yet muted grass green if that makes any sense.  This polish applied smooth and easy.  Actually, all the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polishes I have apply easily.  What you see pictured is two thin coats and a top coat. I love the way it looks on me and I am so ashamed that it took me almost 3 years to pull this baby out and wear it! This is so beautiful and wore for three days before chipping. And you know what's even better? This is actually a very unique green in my large collection!  I need to make a point to wear this a few more times.  I will give this one a 5!

#7 ILNP - Happily Ever After

Ok so this is ridiculous. I freaking love Barbara (of ILNP) and her vision as a polish maker.  This is a gorgeous lilac linear holographic base with silver flakies interspersed throughout.  This baby is crazy reflective!  I just love it.  I ended up putting this baby on as soon as I got it! I think it looks good on my pale skin, but I bet it would look even better on me now that I am tan. I have to put this on the wear-again-soon rotation list I have going. Anyway, what you see is three thin coats and a top coat, but even without the top coat this is super reflective.  This polish applied like a dream too.  It applied smooth and easy, none of the flakies formed bumps. The wear time on this was also really great. I think I ended up wearing this for around four days.  And that is four days of me going to work with harsh chemicals and doing manual labor all day.  I think that is saying something! The rating for this one should be obvious: it's a 5!

#8 Butter London - Posh Bird

So, this one is an interesting color. It's a muted, toned down neutral purple taupe with a large amount of silver in the base.  I actually didn't even know Butter London released a color like this until I stumbled upon it at Marshall's while in the check out line.  This actually reminds me of Butter London's Victoriana except this is the purple taupe version.  This polish applied smooth and easy.  What you see in the picture is three thin coats and a top coat.  The polish itself was very easy to control and the dry time was rather rapid, which was a pleasant surprise.  Overall, I am not sure how I feel about this color against my skin tone. I feel if I put it on now, it would make me look dirty.  Perhaps, I'll just wait till the summer is over before I try this one again.  Because I'm not stunned with this polish and I find it a bit forgettable, I have to give this one a 2.

#9 Zoya - Anais

Here is the last of the Zoya Mini Trio from NYFW.  This is Anais.  Anais is the color of used motor oil.  I think Miss Holly Berries described it that way and I have to agree. It's almost black, but slightly charcoal-esque brown with a vein of silvery shimmer and super micro copper bits within it. I actually find this color to be gorgeous on the nail. The bottle doesn't do it justice.  This applied easily and took three coats to be opaque for me. (I was using thin coats though.) The dry time was a little faster than normal too.  Again, like with Charlott and Severine, I would not have purchased this color of my own volition.  I think the only way I'd ever have purchased this was if I had seen it in a store where they had testers.  And even then maybe not.  I mean the color is awesome, and it looks great as part of a ruffian manicure, but it just doesn't grab me.  All that being said, I have to give this one a three.

#10 Revlon Colorstay - Bold Sangria
Last but not least, a polish that I was inspired to pick up at Odd Lots by Jessika The Polished Queen from youtube! I have no idea when this was released or if you can still find it because they did discontinue this line, but like I said, I found mine at Odd Lots.  Anyway, back to the polish! This is a deep grape wine purple color.  This reminds of a crelly polish because it is sheer but builds well and has a high gloss finish without top coat.  What you see in the picture is three thin coats and a top coat though.  I think this color is just gorgeous and surprisingly I didn't own a purple like it!  This polish was easy to control and applied smoothly.  The dry time was average. Overall, I love this color regardless of the season. I have to give this one a 5. Such a gorgeous classic staple color!

My Top 10 Favorite Red Polishes (R.O.Y.G.B.I.V.)

I have decided to start a new series! I mean it's not new, but it is new for this blog.  What series am I talking about? Well, I'll tell you! I love watching the R.O.Y.G.B.I.V. series on youtube, so much so that I have decided I need to do one for my blog.  I'm unsure of the best way to proceed, but for now I have decided that I will just show bottle shots of my top ten favorites in the color categories simply because I do not have photographs of all the polishes even though I have worn all the polishes shown.  I also have decided to add a little extra: First, I will also show five polishes in my collection that I am looking forward to trying out (for the first time) in the color categories. And second, I will give you a list of five polishes on my lemming list. How does that sound? Sound good?  Good!  Let's start this thing!

My Favorite Red Nail Polishes

Below you will find bottle shots of my favorite red polishes. They are in no particular order though so don't read into it.  Oh, and just so you know I was debating adding a bit of a description, but I honestly don't have the vocabulary to do that, especially when it comes to red haha.  So I hope you enjoy this simple post!

Barielle - Elle's Spell

Milani - NY Apple Red
American Apparel - Downtown LA

Pure Ice - Crimson

Hey guys!

First and foremost: Happy New Year!!  Second, I fell off the face of the earth. I know and I apologize. As part of my new year's resolution I want to attempt to get back into this blog. Why? Well, I really do enjoy writing about nail polish and reading blogs. Do you believe me? Do you have any faith in me?  No? Eh, I'm still gonna try.

With all that being said, I have decided that my first post in the new year is going to be short and sweet.  It's a notification concerning my newly updated "Blog Sale"tab and some housekeeping. So...  Yes, I have updated the tab and I plan to continue to add things as they come into my life.  Please do check back every now and again. Hopefully you'll see something you like.

And now for the other stuff... I want to ease back into this blogging again thing. I'm thinking to do a post once a week on my day off (i.e. Thursday). Then once I get a good momentum going, I'll increase my blogging. How does that sound? I think it sounds better than nothing. Haha!

And, lastly, I still do have a Twitter (@artpolishlove) and an Instagram (@nailsaloveaffair). I'm very active on Instagram and barely alive on Twitter.  Did I ever tell you why I even started a Twitter??  I'll tell you now before I end this post. I started an account solely to participate in #NailGlossip. I only attended 4 of them and have since missed the rest. Does anyone know if #NailGlossip still happens??

Hm...

On that note, I shall end this post. I look forward to interacting with you more in this new year! Take care and happy painting.  :)

Hey guys!

Today I am going to share with you my favorite nail polishes of 2015.  Are you excited?! I am! Before I continue, I want to say that I was in fact inspired to do this because I recently watched the Top 15 Of 2015 collaboration by some nail fanatics on youtube (MissHollyBerries, JessFace90, LindsayDoesNails, NailPolishBaby90, Zenorah, and Yukie). While watching all their videos, I noticed a lot of the polishes listed were polishes that were released in 2015. I, however, will not be selecting polishes released in 2015 (necessarily). My top 15 (plus 5 honorably mentions) are polishes that I fell in love with during 2015, the ones I just wanted to keep wearing over and over again. We all have those.  So, if this is something you're interested in, please continue reading!

Let's Talk O.P.I. Nail Polish

$

Hey guys! How is everyone this lovely St. Patrick's day in 2016?  I hope all is well.  I am most certainly well, but that's not what we are here to talk about.  We're here to talk about O.P.I. nail polish, right?

OK. So, confession time. I--like the crazy, polish-collecting nut that I am--purchased another fourteen bottles of O.P.I. nail polish just after recently purchasing twenty-one bottles in the last month or so.  I absolutely CANNOT pass up a good deal. I mean I collect polish.  It's a hobby.  And it can be expensive. So, I feel I need to leap on deals when they happen, but let's not get side-tracked here. As I mentioned previously, I collect nail polish.  And all of us nail polish lovers have a brand that we just default to, the brand that we tend to buy all the classic staples from, the brand we just love to wear.  For me, that brand is O.P.I. nail lacquer. With all that being said, my recent large purchases triggered a desire to do a blog post about my love for O.P.I. nail polish. I want to discuss my first O.P.I. polishes, my collection, my top favorites, my lemmings, and my recent hauls.  Does that sound appealing?  If it does, stick around!

So, let's start at the beginning, the day that I got my first O.P.I. polish.  It was the summer of 2008, the summer before my junior year in college.  It was May and I was helping clean out dormitories on campus to make some extra cash. I remember this as if it were yesterday.  I was cleaning out the cupboards in the first floor common room and I stumbled upon a mostly full bottle of O.P.I., Call My Cell-ery. This polish was from the Summer 2006 Brights Collection called Brighter By The Dozen. I fell in love.  As a travel obsessed college student, I could not bring myself to spend anything above $4 on nail polish at the time. So, this sad little polish remained my only O.P.I. until 2014 when I discovered clearance deals at places like Sally's Beauty and Ulta.  The next three O.P.I. I added to my collection were from the Gwen Stefani Collection for Spring 2014 and they were: Push And Shove, 4 In The Morning, and Hey Baby. I officially owned four O.P.I. in 2014 in the fall!  Can you believe it?  I have come a long way since then.  Can you guess how many I own now? I now own 170 colors (and I have 1,042 bottles in my entire collection).

At this point, I can officially say I am an O.P.I. fanatic and collector.  Unfortunately, I don't own some of the most coveted O.P.I. polishes (i.e. Rainforest, Smitten With Mittens, My Private Jet, Royal Rajah Ruby, Goldeneye, etc.) but I do own some gems. Now, I assume you're curious about which O.P.I. polishes I do own. Please, click here to look at my most up-to-date speadsheet.  There is a tab specifically for O.P.I. nail polish. You will want to click that tab. For interests' sake, however, I will give you some highlights! I do own all of the Pirates Of The Caribbean Collection except the silver shatter. I own a large part of the France and Russian Collections including Parlez-Vous OPI? and Vodka & Caviar. I own the entire Shrek Forever After Collection (two bottles are of questionably authenticity though). I own over half of the Bond Collection and the Germany collection. I own the majority of the Oz The Great And Powerful Collection. I own Hey, Get In Lime!, At Your Quebec & Call, Cheyenne Pepper, Malaysian Mist, Flamingo Tini Pink, Feel The Mo-heat-oes Green, Sapphire In The Snow, Taylor Blue, OPI & Apple Pie, and Out Of This World. And lastly, I am soon to be the owner of over half of the Holland Collection.  I heard that collection was largely discontinued this past year. Anyway, those are the only highlights I can think of at this moment in time.

In order to wrap up this post, let's talk about my favorites, my lemmings, and my most recent haul.   In order to keep this post from going on forever, I am going to limit my favorites to a list of ten colors.  These colors are in no particular order, but are as follows:

1. Your Royal Shine-ness
2. Elephantastic Pink
3. Coca-Cola Red
4. Wonderous Star
5. Tickle My France-y
6. Malaysian Mist
7. Here Today Aragon Tomorro
8. Vodka & Caviar
9. Lincoln Park After Dark
10. Ms. O'Leary's BBQ

As for my lemming list, well that was definitely harder to narrow down to ten.  So, instead I have decided I will have twenty.

1. Wooden Shoe Like To Know
2. Ginger Bells
3. Shim-merry Chic
4. What's With The Cattitude?
5. Royal Rajah Ruby

And last but not least, let's end this with a discussion of my most recent purchases. As I mentioned in part of my collection highlights, I just purchased half of the Holland Collection. Obviously, I only purchased the half of the collection I was interested in. I don't buy whole collections for the sake of having full collections by the way.  Why did I just buy some of the Holland Collection now you ask? I heard most of these polishes were discontinued as of 2015. So, I had to buy them, duh!  Anyway, I ended up picking up Did You Ear About Van Gogh?, Dutch Ya Just Love OPI?, I Don't Give A Rotterdam!, Thanks A Windmillion, and Gouda Gouda Two Shoes. I am still looking to pick up Wooden Shoe Like To Know. Some other goodies I also picked up were Designer De Better, Don't Pretzel My Buttons, Glacier Bay Blues and Cuckoo For This Color.  These all were also discontinued. And finally, I purchased some colors from the Venice Collection: It's A Piazza Cake, A Great Opera-tunity, O Suzi Mio, Gelato On My Mind, I Cannoli Wear OPI, and Be There In A Prosecco.

And there you have it! Do you guys collect OPI? What's your favorite brand? What are your favorites? Lemmings?

PS I left some of my favortie resources below.

Declutter Time!

Two posts in one week, I am on a roll!  As the title of this post suggests, I will be doing some decluttering of my collection when I get home from work today.  Why?  For one, I have been watching a lot of decluttering videos on youtube and I am feeling inspired. Secondly, I have over 1,000 bottles of nail polish and I definitely don't wear all of them anymore. Lastly, my tastes have changed.

As for the decluttering, the bulk of what I will be going through are Milani, Pure Ice, and random brands (i.e. Brash, Wet N' Wild, Julie G, etc). I have a lot of old Milani and Pure Ice polishes that I just don't touch.  So, I think it is time to say good bye to some those polishes.  So, what does this mean for you guys?  I will be adding lots more to my blogsale tab!  I was also thinking of starting a storenvy too....  Anyway, wish me luck!  Will you be decluttering your life this spring?

Some babble and a mini OPI haul...

Hey guys!

I know, I know. I suck at posting regularly here, but you what?  I feel like it's almost pointless. I mean I just posted my feelings on twitter, that youtube and instagram have been the death of nail polish blogging.  And I believe it.  So, it makes it hard for me to come here and work on content.  I know that is no excuse, but I'm just sharing my struggle with you. And I am sure I am not the only one who feels this way and struggles to stay active on their blog. Am I right?

Anywho, enough negativity!  That was my babble for the day.  Let's get to the exciting min haul, as in exciting for me.  Sooo like I mentioned on my instagram, I was bad and spent quite a bit on OPI yesterday.  By the way, I am becoming obsessed with hunting down lemmings from my OPI wishlist. BUT let's get back to the subject.  On instagram, I mentioned my splurge and I said I needed to go on a no-buy until July and here is why...

eBay Seller #1 Never purchased from this seller.  They wanted $32 but accepted my offer of $19. (Let's hope seller doesn't flake out.)
OPI Royal Rajah Ruby  $19 (free shipping)

eBay Seller #2 I trust them.  They do have authentic HTF OPIs. I've been shopping with them for a while.
OPI Done Out In Deco $16.95 (free shipping)
OPI Suzi Says Da $9.95 ($1.65 shipping)

eBay Seller #3 Looks like a small account, private seller/buyer. We'll see how my experience goes. They wouldn't combine shipping so that leads me to believe they're trying to make some profit off that.
OPI Grape...Set...Match $3.00 ($2.45 shipping)
OPI Pepe's Purple Passion $2.00 ($2.45 shipping)

Groupon (This particular seller wouldn't allow a purchase of more than one at the same time. Rip off. But they have several gems and they only have one of each.)
OPI We'll Always Have Paris $8.50 ($5.95 shipping)

There you go! That's my mini haul. Hope you guys enjoyed it!  Until next time, happy painting!

OK guys... I am going to make *another* attempt to follow through with the ROYGBIV color series on this blog. If you have an astoundingly good memory, you'll remember that I started this series back in 2015 and only did one post before falling off the wagon. Anywho, I shall try again! Why? I love watching the R.O.Y.G.B.I.V. series on youtube! Therefore, I need to do one for my blog. I am unsure of the best way to proceed, but for now I have decided that I will just show bottle shots of my top ten favorites in the color categories simply because I do not have photographs of all the polishes even though I have worn all the polishes shown.  I also have decided to add a little extra: First, I will also show five polishes in my collection that I am looking forward to trying out (for the first time) in the color categories. And second, I will give you a list of five polishes on my lemming list in the color category. How does that sound? Sound good?  Good!  Let's start this thing! Again! Yay.

My Favorite Red Nail Polishes

Below you will find bottle shots of my favorite red polishes. They are in no particular order though. So don't read into it! Oh, just so you know, I was debating adding a bit of a description, but I honestly don't have the vocabulary to do that, especially when it comes to red. Haha.  So, I hope you enjoy this simple post!

OPI - Vodka & Caviar
Essie - Lacquered Up
China Glaze - Red-y To Rave
Revlon - Vixen
Milani - Ruby Jewels
American Apparel - Downtown LA
Barielle - Elle's Spell
Essie - Hip Anema
OPI - Coca-Cola Red
Julep - Karmen

And now here are the five reds in my collection that I am most looking forward to trying out very soon!

OPI Ro-Man-Ce On The Moon
OPI - Quarter of a Cent-Cherry
Essie - With The Band
Essie - Dress To Kilt
Julep - Lee

Last but not least, here are five reds that I am still looking to get my hands on:

  1. O.P.I. - Plymouth Lox
  2. O.P.I. - Got The Blues For Red
  3. Super Black - Cannibal
  4. American Apparel - Rouge
  5. Essie - Clam Bake
OK guys, that's it!  I hope you enjoyed this post and I'd love to know what your favorite reds are!  :)  Until next time, happy polishing!!

Swatch & Review: Nino Zero Lacquer

Nine Zero Lacquer: Prism (L) & Kaleidoscope (R)
The Specifics: Today I have a swatch and review of two polishes made by the famous youtube guru JessFace90, maker of Nine Zero Lacquer! These two polishes, Prism and Kaleidoscope, are from the ROY G BIV Collection, which debuted for the spring/summer of this year (2016).  I purchased these myself from her website for $10 and $9 respectively.

Application: First, let's talk about Prism. Prism is a super dense glitter polish. It's a gorgeous mixture of multicolored (red, orange, green, blue, yellow, indigo, and violet) metallic glitter mixed with silver holographic glitter in a clear base.  Absolute glitter bomb. This is so freakin' sparkly. It's crazy! Application, however, is a bit of a PITA. This polish is so thick. The thickness is merely a function of the density of the glitter in this polish and will definitely require a thinner as you work your way through this bottle. Let's get back to application though!
The best way I found to apply this was to dab it all over the nail with the brush as opposed to using the regular three-stroke method. If you try to apply it using the standard method (three-stroke), you will have so many bald patches.  Once you resign yourself to dabbing it on, you're good to go in two coats! Below you will see two coats and three coats of quick-dry top coat.  Why three coats of top coat? Because this freaking polish is top coat hungry.

Now, let's move on to Kaleidoscope. This polish consists of translucent rainbow glitter (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet) in a clear base.  From the bottle, this polish doesn't look too appealing, but over a light color base it really shines! The glitter in this is dense, making the polish thick but not unmanageable. You can apply this using the regular three-stroke method of application, but just be sure to do some manipulating in order to disperse the glitter evenly over the surface.   Below you will see two coats of the glitter over two coats of OPI'sAlpine Snow.

How long did it last? I have a peel-off base coat under these babies because I didn't want the headache of removal. Furthermore, I have a job interview Friday and will be removing this today. Therefore, I cannot attest to wear time.

Dupes: Concerning Prism, there are similar polishes that have been released by some other indie brands such as Glam Polish100K and KBShimmerHexy Bikini, but no definite dupes that I have seen thus far. As for Kaleidoscope, I can't think of any, but I am sure there is at least one.

Overall: I really love both for their uniqueness to my personal stash and I LOVE the glitter bomb that is Prism.  Will I wear these a lot?  Probably not.  I work in a conservative industry. Are they must-have polishes?  No, not for me. Would I recommend them? If you're patient, looking for something a little unique, and love glitter, yes!  If not, then pass on these.
